Frederick J. Bell died in 1869, leaving his wife Sarah Elizabeth Thaxton Bell and his children, all minors. Bell died with a large plot of land & his wife sued for a dower. However in 1865 Bell deeded the land to J. M. Bell, who registered the deed at the court house, this was meant to be conveyed as a mortgage of trust rather than land sale. Bell was insolvent at the time of his death, having recently filed bankruptcy. |
