Flora & Thomas, who said Colville (TN legislator) schemed to divest valuable hotel property from Pla. & fraudulently got court to set aside deed. Hotel burned & rebuilt. W.T. died during suit. Add. Greene's cow was killed by Def's train between Rowland Station & McMinnville. Greene lived 6 miles from McMinnville on railroad line leading to Sparta & 1 mile from Rowland Station. Cow was in pond near track when hit by train, during daylight hours. Dispute re whether train engineer kept proper lookout. Judgment for Greene, who was awarded $24.65 damages (value of cow + bell & collar). Witnesses: John Lane (train engineer), Rufus S. Gamble (train fireman) |

The court held two practicing attorneys--William T. Murray & F.M. Smith--in contempt, and fined them $25 each, for fighting in open court. Smith appealed the ruling to the SC, claiming he was only defending himself against Murray's attack on him, and that he was addressing the court when Murray began attacking him with law books and a chain. Smith lost his appeal to the SC. |

The original case was concerning a debt of sixty four dollars owed by McBride to Harwell. Harwell has a mechanics lien upon the house and lot of McBride. The debt was for material furnished and work in the building and house on the lot. |

This suit was originally brought by E.W. Munford in his life-time against Western Union Telegraph Company to recover damages alleged to have been sustained through delay in delivery of a message. Munford died and was revived in the name of Mary Munford. This is a request for an appeal. |

Scott sued Dixon over land adjoining Dixon's land, claiming Dixon was cutting & removing timber from said land & obstructing road leading to coal bank. Dispute over proper boundary line between the parties' property. Land on east side of Rocky River. James Hillis acquired 640 acres from State per Grant No. 8057, 220 acres of which (including coal bank) son Dixon acquired by purchase per a court decree. (James deeded 320 acres--south half of grant--to Aron Higginbotham & 100 acres to Robert Hillis.) |
