Plaintiff owned a tract of land which he purchase from his sister Catherine, who had inherited it from their mother Cyrena Stubblefield. Catherine transferred the note to Greer Woodlee. Stubblefield gave Greer a new note for the balance on his sister’s share. The land was sold to satisfy the note and bought by Greer. |

Frederick J. Bell died in 1869, leaving his wife Sarah Elizabeth Thaxton Bell and his children, all minors. Bell died with a large plot of land & his wife sued for a dower. However in 1865 Bell deeded the land to J. M. Bell, who registered the deed at the court house, this was meant to be conveyed as a mortgage of trust rather than land sale. Bell was insolvent at the time of his death, having recently filed bankruptcy. |

Scott sued Dixon over land adjoining Dixon's land, claiming Dixon was cutting & removing timber from said land & obstructing road leading to coal bank. Dispute over proper boundary line between the parties' property. Land on east side of Rocky River. James Hillis acquired 640 acres from State per Grant No. 8057, 220 acres of which (including coal bank) son Dixon acquired by purchase per a court decree. (James deeded 320 acres--south half of grant--to Aron Higginbotham & 100 acres to Robert Hillis.) |
