This is an appeal. Original bill saw indictment of King on charges of assault with intent to commit murder in the second degree. On Oct. 27 1887, King said to have attacked & wounded Reuben Sullivan with a knife. Sullivan rented land from King. Sullivan stated he was hauling corn for King who confronted him in the field & stabbed him multiple times incurring shoulder, arm, torso & abdomen wounds. Argument possibly over percentage of crop each was due. King sentenced to 18 mos. In TN Penitentiary |

The plaintiff states that he has not carried a pistol in ten years and was using a rifle to shoot the tree. The plaintiff further notes that he was previously attacked by Lahue for charging him with stealing. Several witnesses testified to Lahue's poor character. |
