Gamble, Will A. McTeer, and A.S. Mason were partners in trade until Mason's death. A settlement was made which found the plaintiff indebted to the Mason estate for $500. Arch Mason had obtained judgment of $261.17 for Gamble and McTeer's joint note. Gamble wants Arch Mason restrained from collecting said judgment and for the amount of $72.23 be deducted from the judgment-an amount Gamble believed was due to him by Mason estate for the amount he paid as surety in another suit. |

William M. Jeffries died during the Civil War, leaving his widow, & his daughter Ruth M. McTeer. The widow then married Joseph Miller, & Miller was legally bonded as Ruth's guardian. Ruth rec'd pension from her father's death; Miller handled her money. Ruth married A. J. L. McTeer, however, the court failed to make Miller renew his bond. Miller squandered her money, was ordered to turn repay her, however he was insolvent. |

Hiram, his wife Martha Ann, & his child, & "a young black woman" in their household became ill. They called Dr. A. L. Taylor to take care of him. Each family member repaired at a different rate of time, the total time of the Dr.'s attention was about two months. The bill mounted & Bogle could not pay it back right away. Suit was to recover payment. However, witness testimony shows the bill was far too high to be fair. |

Wallace brought suit against Henry Hannum in 1835. Claimed to own lots in Maryville occupied by Hannum. Hannum claimed to be renting property from James White of Virginia. Court ruled in favor of Wallace. Supreme Court reversed decision & remanded case back to circuit court for retrial in 1839. Hannum died in 1845 & case was continued by his widow, Ann Eliza Hannum. Also names heirs: James, Ellen, Francis, William Alexander, & Kathleen Hannum. |

Witnesses: Hooper came to Taylor's house w/M.G. Sprinkle, Hugh Bogle & Samuel McAnnally & took colt out of Taylor's lot. Hooper's defense was that the ordinary constable had gone to the South w/horses & in his absence, Hooper was deputized & in that capacity levied on the horse to satisfy judgments Sprinkle had against Taylor. |

Plaintiff alleges that since her husband's death she has come to suspect there are "secret partners" in the business & that Robert James is attempting to defraud his creditors, & deprive her of her rights as his son's widow. |

During an argument over money, the Martins & Frank Peery assaulted Connie Sullivan (male) with a gun and shot him to death. They were convicted of voluntary manslaughter. Top binding could not be removed w/o damage to the document. Exhibit accompanying Mrs. Sullivan's testimony is a hand-drawn floor plan of the house in which the murder took place. Individuals who were standing in the room are identified by one initial each. Floor plan is on the back of a Raulstons Dry Cleaning shirt box. |

Grace charged her husband with being almost continuously "drunk and carousing" since their marriage eighteen years ago. She suffered much anxiety, worry, and trouble during that time. Grace testified that Boyce sometimes had been violent; further, he "often had assaulted her and wickedly abused her." He often "flew into a rage and unmercifully beat her" after she corrected their two children (June and Jean) for a minor infraction. It also was sworn that Boyce kept company with lewd women. |
