Trespass on the Case in Slander, $3,000 damages. McMahan sued Burum for slander, claiming Burum accused McMahan of stealing Burum's potatoes (on more than one occasion) & a plough & called McMahan a "good for nothing, lying, thieving, son of a bitch". According to McMahan, Burum also accused McMahan of committing larceny as a matter of habit. |

In 1836, Henry was security in a bill executed by John Keys & Wm. Lowery payable to James Houston for $716. 1842, a judgment against defendants & plaintiff was granted to Houston in this amount for non-payment of bill. This case established that Henry has already satisfied his obligation, having paid the full $839.20 (original judgment + interest); Henry sought to recover this from William Lowery. Circuit court found in favor of S. Henry. |
