View Entry 1871 John D. Alexander v. Abraham Porter Blount Personal Property Dispute

Abraham Porter bought a wagon with his own money for his mother. Testimony says the wagon was made for Abe, but that he wanted to give it to his little brother Sime, but since Sime was a minor he could not own property. Other testimony alleges wagon belonged Abe, Sime, or the mother. A levy was placed on the wagon in Abe's name and was about to be sold. By claiming it belonged to his mother he could keep his property.

View Entry 1871 Thomas Pickens v. Andrew Peery Blount Debt Dispute

Previously, Peery sued Pickens for $42.16 over an account Pickens held. Part of the account was for Confederate money given in payment after the war to pay for lamp black & tobacco. At the time of the suit Pickens still owed $31 on the account.

View Entry 1871 William Goddard v. James K. Cox Blount Land and Title Dispute

Court ordered the sale of Cox's land, Cox attempted multiple times to block the sale of his land. Cox claims the court did not make the legally required amount of public announcements for the sale.

View Entry 1871 William G. Hardin v. Richard I. Wilson Blount Land, Contract Dispute

Hardin transferred tract of land to Wilson in exchange for Wilson paying Hardin's debts to Edward George, John Baxter, & W. W. Howard. Wilson never paid debts, however.
