McKenry states that on 23 Oct. 1875 the deft. maliciously published a "libel" in which he accused McKenry of stealing two mares worth about $50 each from him, & that the mares were later found in McKenry's possesion. The libel resulted in a warrant being issued for the plntff.'s arrest for the crime of larceny. The plntff. claims that the scandal has ruined his good name & demands $10,000 as recompense. |
