During an argument over money, the Martins & Frank Peery assaulted Connie Sullivan (male) with a gun and shot him to death. They were convicted of voluntary manslaughter. Top binding could not be removed w/o damage to the document. Exhibit accompanying Mrs. Sullivan's testimony is a hand-drawn floor plan of the house in which the murder took place. Individuals who were standing in the room are identified by one initial each. Floor plan is on the back of a Raulstons Dry Cleaning shirt box. |

Sixteen year old Frank Johnson suffered a broken neck after diving into a swimming pool operated by the City of Alcoa. Hobart Johnson, as his representative, sued the city for $15,000 in damages. The pool was constructed over a natural stream or other water source, the water piped in from the uphill side, & drained out of the other. Good description of pool area construction. Good study for early 20th century municipal leisure space, & use research. |

Plaintiff sued to collect on a $150 check drawn by the Wilder Estates, Inc. of Middlesboro, KY by Ewing Wilder. Payment on the check was stopped Plaintiff alleges that Hubert Carpenter had promised her $300 if she would marry him; the check was part of this arrangement. Defendant argues that liability, if any, rests with Wilder Estates, Inc. rather than himself, and that payment on the check was stopped at the request of Hubert Carpenter, who later married the plaintiff. Exhibits include stopped check. |
