Payment on the check was stopped Plaintiff alleges that Hubert Carpenter had promised her $300 if she would marry him; the check was part of this arrangement. Defendant argues that liability, if any, rests with Wilder Estates, Inc. rather than himself, and that payment on the check was stopped at the request of Hubert Carpenter, who later married the plaintiff.
