Wallace brought suit against Henry Hannum in 1835. Claimed to own lots in Maryville occupied by Hannum. Hannum claimed to be renting property from James White of Virginia. Court ruled in favor of Wallace. Supreme Court reversed decision & remanded case back to circuit court for retrial in 1839. Hannum died in 1845 & case was continued by his widow, Ann Eliza Hannum. Also names heirs: James, Ellen, Francis, William Alexander, & Kathleen Hannum. |

Witnesses: Hooper came to Taylor's house w/M.G. Sprinkle, Hugh Bogle & Samuel McAnnally & took colt out of Taylor's lot. Hooper's defense was that the ordinary constable had gone to the South w/horses & in his absence, Hooper was deputized & in that capacity levied on the horse to satisfy judgments Sprinkle had against Taylor. |

Grace testified that Boyce sometimes had been violent; further, he "often had assaulted her and wickedly abused her." He often "flew into a rage and unmercifully beat her" after she corrected their two children (June and Jean) for a minor infraction. It also was sworn that Boyce kept company with lewd women. |

Sixteen year old Frank Johnson suffered a broken neck after diving into a swimming pool operated by the City of Alcoa. Hobart Johnson, as his representative, sued the city for $15,000 in damages. The pool was constructed over a natural stream or other water source, the water piped in from the uphill side, & drained out of the other. Good description of pool area construction.
