View Entry 1891 Bert Cawthon v. David Cawthon Cannon Wills, Contested

Bert was the grandson of James L. Cawthon, dec. Bert asserted David executed a fraudulent will, as James was under the influence of David and not of sound mind. Bert's father, Pleas, has also passed - making him the heir to his father's share of James' will.

View Entry 1891 Gray & Brewer v. E. S. Robertson Cannon Debt

Plaintiffs are merchants in the town of Woodbury, Tennessee. Plaintiffs claim that on the night of April 18, 1890 their store was broken into and several items were stolen. After the burglary, the plaintiffs published a notice in the newspaper advertising a reward for the capture of the perpetrator. Plaintiffs later learned that B. Stewart was responsible for said theft after observing him in possession of the stolen goods. Plaintiffs complain that the def. is now unlawfully claiming said reward.

View Entry 1891 H. H. Rodgers v. W. T. Todd Cannon Land and Title Dispute

Plaintiff claims he is the rightful owner of a tract of land located in the 4th Civil District of Cannon County near Stone's River and has been for seven years. Plaintiff further claims that while in possession of said land he built a house and mill, cultivated the land, and harvested timber. Plaintiff complains the defendant is now claiming ownership of part of the property and is seeking an injunction restricting him from taking possession. Exhibit material includes map on page 30.

Dodd and Covington had a contract on a amount of wood. Dodd asserts Covington broke this contract and owes him the damages resulting from the breaking of said contract.
