Hugh Gardner took out a regular 5 year policy in the sum of $500 with the Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. of Carroll County. The policy was to insure his house and all its contents. On 11/18/1917 he received a notice that he owed $2.00 as an assessment. This was the only notice he received. On 11/19/1917 he lost his house and all its contents in a fire. When he tried to collect on the claim the Insurance Company refused to pay. Court sided with defendant. Gardner appealed.

Firm of Keaton Bros. comprised of W. J. & J. A. Keaton. Keatons are owners of 114 1/4 acre tract of land except for 15 acres. sued to collect a "reasonable rental value" from Quinn, who they accuse of unlawfully taking possession of the 15 acres. Quinn argues that he has had open adverse possession of the land for 25 years, & that the statute of limitation of 20 years & the "presumption of title by open adverse possession " of 20 years means that the property is not subject to recovery.

The plaintiffs are descendant from Nancy Wood. After the death of her husband, Nancy was appointed a trustee--a guy with the last name Wiseman. Nancy sold 47 acres of her land to a defendant, Thomas Bingle. The complainants are claiming that Nancy was in no condition to negotiate or make a contract for the selling of her land and, they claim, Wiseman had no right to be her trustee.

Next friend of S. l. Chilton is C. T. Riddle. S.L. Chilton is the owner of a tract of land in Carroll County. In 1896, he removed with his family to Missouri-his mind being in an enfeebled state prior to and during his departure. In 1901 he was confined to an asylum for the insane. In 1895, H. G. Townes, Back Tax Attorney for Carroll County, sold the land to get delinquent back taxes. The deed was executed by Prince A Hawkins in 1897 and WH Lowry became the purchaser. Chilton charges the deed is void.
