Case regarding unpaid wages for the moving of stone/rocks. Goodwin owed Rainey 164.97 for services rendered. Goodwin attempted to appeal the judgment, but was overruled.

The dispute involved an agreement between the parties for the manufacture of 1,000 gallons of whiskey.

Plaintiff sold defendant a cotton gin, press, and machinery connected to the gin. Plaintiff also agreed to lease the ground upon which the gin stood for ten years, as long as no one else used the gin or the property. Plaintiff alleged that defendant allowed someone else to use the gin and property, therefore breaching the contract.

Additional defendants: William Wilkinson. Nancy F. Adams (dec.), was wife of plaintiff and daughter of defendant. Defendant owned a slave boy of 4 yrs. old named Dick or Richard and after Nancy F. Adams died gifted the slave boy to plaintiff. The gift was a verbal agreement in 1826. In 1848, the plaintiff managed to get possession of the slave and sold him to Allen Y. Wilkinson or his son William Wilkinson. Slave then became possession of Letitia Wilkinson, widow of W. Wilkinson and was worth $900.

Case also includes a suit for damages.

Sally Haden of Rowan, NC married William Merrill, & her father William loaned Sally an enslaved girl Dinah, a boy named Harry. Her father bequeathed the enslaved to Sally & after her death her children. When she died some of the enslaved were at other estates. The suit was filed to return the enslaved for the benefit of Sally's children. Dinah's children included: Milly, her children Dinah, Randolph, Dicey.

Plaintiff sued defendant for recovery of a tract of land situated in Giles County. Williamson claimed that Anthony had removed the fences on the land and is unjustly using the land.

Additional defendants: J. P. Nelson and Hermon Lester. Discrepency: Cover page states Thomas A. Nelson v. T. L. McGee. Bill states Thomas L. McGee & A. M. Hammer v. F. B. Nelson & John H. Pointer & others McGee & Hammer & Isaiah Ivy entered into an contract Columbia, Pulaski, Elkton & Alabama Turnpike Company where Ivy agreed to build the 9th mile of road for $1000 in state bonds.
