Cleveland sued Mullins and Richard Pride for cutting timber and building a house on land that Cleveland claimed was his. Mullins rented Pride, a "colored" man, the tract of land which Cleveland said was part of his property and Mullins had no title for.

Elisha Thomason was the county sheriff, but failed to collect taxes and fines as required by his office. Thomason sued for the right to remain in office while fees were collected.

Dispute re: prior suit by Lambden against Isaac B. Butcher (and Peter Sharp & Co. as security) over 2 notes owed by Isaac, who then died, after which Lambden revived suit against Haston, believing he had bound himself as security for debt, which he denied Case related to 2 other cases, one found in ET Box 1158 (Peter Sharp & Co. et al. v. John Lambden) & the other found in ET Box 1121 (John Lambden v. John Sharp & Allen Hurst).

Heirs of Abigail Burgess: Beeson Field, John Field, Pari & Lucinda Dobbs. Burgess, daughter of Richard Beeson died, & the heirs sought to settle the estate. Burgess was mentally impaired when the will was written. Her husband's will states that his slaves should be freed at her death, & inherit the land. They were: Joseph, Cresa, Lewis, Patty, Jane & John, others illegible.

Mary applied for & was granted authority in Jefferson County to administer her late husband's estate, only to discover Frazier & McKinney, neither of whom were related to Wilson, had been granted similar authority in Grainger County. She filed this suit to resolve the matter.

Additional defendant: I. W. Morgan. Tract of land being disputed belonged to N. L. Morgan, deceased, grandfather of the plaintiff.

Additional defendants: James T. Carmichael, George Carmichael, John Carmichael, and many others. Complex case regarding previous lawsuits. A joint decree was rendered in all these cases against James Carmichael. James left for South Carolina during war to be within Confederate military lines. His lands were sold by decree and purchased by plaintiff in 1865 but were seized by U.S. gov't under Second Confiscation Act. Freedmen's Bureau given possession later. Plaintiff wants her money refunded.

In 1865, Capt Harrington's company of US soldiers sent to Rutledge, TN as "sort of guard" at term of Circuit Court. Soldiers arrested pla. (rebel) & prevailed on him to confess judgment to 5 judgments in favor of Easley & Co & related parties (led by Warham Easley Jr). Judgments satisfied by selling pla.'s land (incl Chandler tract); Def Bryant purchased land & Def. Haynes & Nance (other jdgmt creditors of pla.) "redeemed" it. Witnesses incl pla.'s daughter Mrs. Martha Nash. Suit to reclaim land.

Bill seeking recovery of a parcel of land. Mentioned are Jacob & John Livingston, Fielding H. Ivey, G. B. Mayo, W. G. McDaniel, John W. Lacey, Josiah Kidwell, Samuel Carmichael, John Ivey, [W. A. B. ?] Smith, and Isaac Noe. Date uncertain, but 1880s.

Add. defendants: Thomas Jamagin & Spencer Jamagin. The parties were married. The plaintiff's father, William Rucker (dec.), left her several tracts of land, a portion of which she deeded over to William Malicout. A deed was made out to the defendant by Malicout, cutting the plaintiff out of her share of the land. The making of said deed without the plaintiff's knowledge was a fraudulent move and she alone held rights to the land and her husband's debt to Jamagin led to the trespass.

Christian petitioned the court to eject the defendant claiming rights to the land in question.
