Sellars recovered a judgment against Austin for the sum of $4.74 with $3.25 cost of suit, resulting from a dispute over a pair of boots. Sellars stated that Austin was a family member & employee who sometimes lived with Sellars. Austin was said to have borrowed the boots to wear to town, & they were never returned. Sellars sought the value of the boots in damages. |

Collins'daughter was near her father's lumber camp in 1836 and she heard someone nearby cutting down trees. She found Joseph Collins cutting down a chestnut tree next to his ox and cart. Lathim claimed that Collins had agreed with him that Lathim was allowed to forrest and remove timber from the property, but had not written record of the agreement. |

Plaintiff had made a rental contract with defendant whereby he would work for him for 50 cents a day & raise his crops in exchange for a house to live in, a garden, pasture for 2 cows, and a portion of each crop. Contract also stipulated how the expenses of cultivating the crops would be divided between them. Defendant abided by the contract until 1 June when he drove plaintiff off of his land with an ax. Plaintiff suing for $1500 damages caused by defendant's breach of contract. |

Charlie Spoon fired two shots at Roy Helton killing him. The incident occurred outside of Helton's restaurant and filling station. Although Spoon had a gun, Helton had only a glass Coca Cola bottle. Spoon was obviously drunk and swearing at Helton. Witnesses testified that the Coca Cola bottle could have been used as a weapon, and was a threat to Spoon's life. |

Cobb owned land on which these crops grew, which came into possession of Charles B. Hodges when he married Sarah. When Charles died, Calloway (who may be Charles' dad) became admr. of estate. Thornburgh executed $100 note in favor of Harris, who gave Confederate money (rebel money) for the note, which Thornburgh used to pay another debt & to pay a high price for medicine. Dispute over whether Confederate money qualified as consideration. Thornburgh argued no consideration for note, since Confederate money not recognized by law as money at all & had no legal value. |

Grant Young was originally charged alongside Brogan in the rape of Louisa [Eliza/Elisa] Lamb, but his name has been scratched off the title page. Both were sentenced to twenty years in prison. The jury later said that the 20-year penalty was too harsh-- owing to their not realizing a lesser sentence was possible. The case contains descriptive testimony including the victim's. The Smiths were sued the Beets Brothers for $10,000 and $2500 in 2 separate suits for personal injuries and property damages, resulting from unlawful and negligent operation, by def. and their agents, of a Mack Motor truck upon and over a public highway, which colliding into Plaintiffs' car. Plaintiffs charged said accident and injuries were direct result of defendants' negligence. Verdict in plaintiffs favor for $305 and $250. Both parties appealed. |

Lebow was charged with abducting "Lucy Miller, a minor under twenty one years of age, for the purpose of prostitution." Lucy Miller's legal guardian at the time of her abduction was Perry Miller. She was abducted on August 1, 1892. Testimony in the case stated that Lucy's parents had both been deceased for about 7 years at the time of the trial. |
