Bill of equity; Plaintiff had been married to Hannah Jordan in February, 1855. The wife abandoned McPherson later that year, never to return. Plaintiff filed a bill in court, charging his wife with "adultery and other obscene conduct," asking for a divorce. In 1856, Peter Jordan filed suit against plaintiff to recover upon an account for the board of the said Hannah. Hannah allegedly had an illegal affair with one Jonathan Light. Jordan was a free negro from Virginia. |

Plaintiff sued to prevent delivery of reordered machines and to remove his name as surety on the bond. |

The plaintiff in error issued said notes to Sounders Clark and Co. for a one fourth interest in the Whig and Register Printing Office located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Said notes were later conveyed to the defendant. The plaintiff refused to pay the notes on the ground that the financial state of said Whig and Register Printing Office was misrepresented. The defendant is 79 years old and the owner of a boarding house in Knoxville. |
