Add. defendant: Miller Price. In 1936, J. Self bought from the plaintiff a automobile for $100, for which he gave a note for $101.25. After being delivered to the defendant, the automobile was involved in a wreck, impairing its value. The defendant left it on the side of the road, during which time it was stripped for parts. The defendant later failed to pay the note and couldn't provide specified security on the note in the form of a tobacco crop co-owed by M. Price and chattel. |

In 1860, Creech contracted to purchase from A. J. Cobb a tract of Hawkins County land adjoining that of D. S. Reed [also Read]. He executed three notes to Cobb, each for $1,183.10. Cobb later transferred or assigned these notes to Scruggs. There was some confusion over the land title. By the time the case reached the high court, Cobb was dead, and Creech wanted the whole deal cancelled. |

"live and cohabit together, they not being married, in lewd acts of sexual intercourse, fornication and adultery, unlawfully, openly, notoriously, publicly, scandalously, wickedly, and corruptly, to the manifest corruption of their own and of the public morals, and to the common nuisance." |

Clark filed an injunction bill against James L. McGhee, John McGhee, Laura McGhee, and Teresa McGhee. Clark stated that around 1872,the McGhees began setting posts for the erection of a fence that would prevent him from entering or exiting his property. The McGhees owned Clark's surrounds, but a "public" road was Clark's only way to get to his house and a nearby creek. Clark enjoined the court to stop the McGhees from building the fence--a fence which would prevent Clark from coming and going. |

Plaintiff, Emmaline Johnson, widow of Henry Johnson, sued her daughter, Adelaide Johnson, and John Jenkins for taking over her property. The plaintiff had debt to settle for the property of her husband before she could retain the deed again. Due to her ill health her daughter offered to take on the task of gathering up the final payment for the land but had the deed put in her own name. John Jenkins then rented the land against Emmaline's wishes per a private arrangement with Adelaide. |

Defendant originally won a judgment of $5,000 plus costs against the plaintiff in a wrongful death suit. On 28 Nov. 1936 Tressa Brooks was seriously injured when she was hit by a freight truck owned by the defendant as she was walking on the side of the road. She died of her injuries 1 Dec. 1936. Also mentioned: Mrs. Howard (Brooks) Williams, a sister of Tressa Brooks; Silas Brooks, their father; Blance (Blanche?) Marie, Tressa's daughter. |

Andrew Bell now deceased had bought property from Hale for $300; Bell had issued note and Marshall was security. After note matured, Hale brought suit against Bell and Marshall. Hale declined to receive Marshall's money, saying Bell and R.P. Sharp had hogs to satisfy judgment. Marshall believed judgment paid in full and wanted certiorari against Hale to restrain him from levying on plaintiff's property to satisfy judgment. |

Wilkins worked on a team of men under the employ of William Kelley, foreman, in charge of multiple train cars. There was a dump car on the tracks, and another train was due to arrive. Kelley asked them men to move the dump car manually. Kelly was injured during this task and sought damages. See other documents in ET Box 98. |

Peck was listed as a resident of Jefferson County. The railway company accused Peck of "encroaching" on their land and claimed he was beginning to erect a building upon it. |
