Dixon was the Hardin County Sherriff. Gatlin was under contract with US government to transport mail from Cornith MS to Savanah TN. Gatlin also carried passengers in a Reo bus. Hardin County issued a distress warrant stating that Gatlin had not taken out a proper license to carry passengers. Gatlin claimed that carrying passengers into Shiloh National Military Park was under the jurisdiction of the US government therefore he was not required to have a license through Hardin County.

View Entry 1928 L. T. McDaniel v. United States Fire Insurance Co. Hardin Insurance Claims and Policies

McDaniel asserted the Ins. Co. owed him $300 for a policy that stated if more than 1/10th of an inch of rain fell on May 31, 1926 between the hours of 10a and 4p his property would be insured. It rained more than that during the timeframe, thus making the company liable for payment.

View Entry 1928 Reece Guthrie & Otis Jennings, in error v. State Hardin Murder

Appeal case only. Supreme Court of Tennessee at Jackson in 1930. Original case was heard in 1928 in Hardin County. 2 folders. Guthrie & Jennings were accused of killing Archie May while drunk. Guthrie was given 3 years in the prison and Jennings was given 5 years in the prison.
