On 26 April 1889 Sallie W. Burns(?) assigned to the plntff. a $4000 note that had been executed to her by M. M. Wells on 19 Oct. 1888. The note was for 2 tracts of land that Wells purchased from Burns(?). The note, which was due 1 Sept. 1889, had not been paid by the deft. There was a lien on the lands for the payment. Plntff. asked the court to enforce the lien by selling the lands for an amount sufficient to satisfy the note. |

pla. recovered $2695.45 judgment against James R. Pace, but only property to satisfy it was household furniture, leaving large balance. Before judgment, James transferred goods he owned in Rogersville (from his mercantile business) to brother Charles, which court found to be transaction to avoid creditors. Charles replevied the goods, giving $800 bond, then sold goods at auction. Suit now brought to recover on the bond. Add. def: A.A. Kyle (security on bond), Joseph R. Walker. |

Anderson (went bankrupt & moved to Mississippi) & Bunch. Later transactions involved Samuel's son McDonough Joseph Bunch. Samuel died; admr sued. Thomas says Samuel promised to pay 1/2 original note, but didn't; asking court for relief. Testimony: Samuel "addicted to habits of intemperance" in yrs before his death. Thomas died while suit ongoing. |
