Plaintiff Henry Watkins, "colored," petitioned the court for an injunction to prevent the defendants from disallowing the plaintiff from using their private road to reach the public road. Watkins bought the land from a relative of the Kirkpatricks who was allowed right-of-way since they inherited the land. However, when Watkins bought it he was forced to gain access to his land through the brother of C. M. Kirkpatrick, who then also denied him access.
