Defendant Duggar and plaintiff became betrothed on Oct. 1, 1854; plaintiff brought suit in 1857 when she discovered he was already married. Defendant had stopped courting plaintiff, who was pregnant. Defendant denied he promised to marry plaintiff. Circuit Court ruled for plaintiff and assessed damages at $250. |
