Lawson purchased land from Vick with a $700 note. When due he was unable to pay and the land was put up for sale. When about to sell it was discovered that Vick had already sold a portion of the land to a John L. Jones, who never laid claim, but whose title diminished the land sale that Lawson owed on and was ordered to sell to repay the note. Lawson requested an abatement to reduce the purchase price and an injunction to halt Vick from attempting to recover the note until the true value was known. |

The State charged Robinson with the "detestable and abominable crime of buggery with a beast, to wit, a cow to the great displeasure of almighty God, to the great scandal of all human kind and against the peace and dignity of the State." There is specific testimony about the crime scene and circumstances of the incident. Robinson denied the charge and said he laid down drunk off the road, getting manure on himself. The circuit court sentenced him to 5 years of hard labor at the state penitentiary. |

Burnett sued the Rose for wages owed to Lucinda Burnett (his mother) for cooking, washing, and mending for the defendant for 11 months at $3 per month in 1885 and 1886. Rose claimed that he provided Lucinda with substantial amounts of pork, soap, lard, milk, and chickens that exceeded the $33 owed to her. The circuit judge ruled that each party owed each other $33 and should split their combined court costs. |

A vacancy appeared on the Board of Education, so it needed to be filled. J. C. Lawrence was elected by majority vote of the Board. The defendants refused to recognize the election because Lawrence was colored. Lawrence charged that he was excluded from Board activity because "he is one of the colored or African race, despised and hated by many ignorant prejudiced people." Lawrence learned that a secret Board meeting taking place, so he crashed it. Things got ugly. [Jim Crow] |

They claimed they were entitled to the reward that Glazebrook offered for the arrest and conviction of 3 thieves responsible for the arson and theft of mortgage bonds. The reward for the bonds was $3,000 and the capture of perpetrators, $100 each. |

Geer claimed that Heck owed him several thousand dollars for rents, royalties, and profits made from the land for which Heck has never given Geer his 1/3 share as partial owner.
