Trust company was the executor of the Daniel Briscoe estate. As such, bank had remodeled and reconstructed a building known as the Bus Terminal. The company operated and leased the building which had been built in the form of an arcade. They paved the entrance with a kind of flooring that became very slick when wet. Rankin slipped and fell on the pavement, breaking her arm at the elbow. She sued to recover lost salary and medical costs and for suffering permanent physical pain and mental anguish. |

Robert Heiskell was an African American man who initially sued over a dispute at the Staub Theatre. Heiskell purchased a reserve seat at a higher rate and claimed he was owed a seat in the "colored" reserved section. He was ejected but contested his treatment. The show was called "The Devil's Auction" and was very popular. The left side of the balcony was designated "black" and the right was designated "white" with the middle designated as what ever "the majority" was for a particular show. |

Bennett claimed he had significant medical expenses and could not gain his prior levels of profit from his labor. The circuit court found in favor of the plaintiff for $1,000. |
