Bessie M. Shipley was an employee of the Standard Knitting Mills and was enrolled in the group life insurance program provided by said employer through the def. and to which the pla. was the beneficiary. Bessie became ill and died on Oct. 28, 1931 in Knoxville General Hospital. Pla. claims the def., in breach of contract, has refused to payout the said policy. Exhibit materials include correspondence and employment information. Bessie had a 7th grade education and made $0.21 per hour.

View Entry 1932 F. E. Fisher & Co. v. Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Co. & Mrs. Nelle Downing Grebe Knox Insurance Disputes

Add'l documents located in ET 86 and exhibits in ET 1367. An insurance policy was taken out on the life of Paul M. Grebe, the husband of Nelle Downing Grebe. N. Grebe claims the proceeds of the policy as the beneficiary under an insurance conservation agreement. The pla. make their claim under and assignment made to them by P. Grebe a few days before his death. P. Grebe was an employee of the pla. and was charged with embezzling money and forced to sign the policy over. 2 folders

View Entry 1932 Helen May Romines by next friend v. The Preferred Accident Insurance Co. of N. Y. Knox Insurance Disputes

Next Friend: James C. Romines. Plaintiff received a previous judgment against John A. Huff, admr. Of Will Gillard, dec. in a suit to recover damages for an accident caused by the said Gillard who was operating a car owned by Bill Kyle. This suit was filed to recover payment from the insurance company contracted to insure said automobile. Exhibit materials include a Preferred Accident Insurance Company automobile liability policy.

In 1931, the Rev. Francis M. Farnsworth died while under a life insurance policy for $1,000.00 provided by the defendant with the plaintiff as the beneficiary.

View Entry 1932 Mina D. Shackleford v. Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company & Provident Life & Accident Insurance Company Knox Insurance Claims and Policies

Plaintiff sued the insurance companies for non-payment of a claim in the death of her husband, A. Dewey Shackleford. Lower court found that his death was caused by pneumonia, not electric shock as alleged.

View Entry 1932 Zurich Fire Insurance Company v. J. F. Schultz Knox Insurance Disputes

The defendant held a policy with the plaintiff when he claimed a total loss under said policy covering a new 1928 model automobile. The adjustor's investigation uncovered the car was in fact a used 1925 model Franklin sedan. The adjuster awarded the plaintiff a payout of $1,260.00, which the plaintiffs believe is grossly in excess of the actual value of the car.
