Jake Thompson worked at the Elkins railroad camp. Shelvin shot him in the back 5 times with a Colt 45. Shelvin fled to another camp in Blount Cty & was caught. Testimony stated that Shelvin had invited Thompson to "come down to his camp" & "to spend the night." Not clear on his intentions, but Thompson declined, walking away. Then Shelvin fired. |

Barbara & Richard F. Reynolds, their nephew, & a "colored boy" named Joseph Reynolds were in their house when Webb & Dave Duncan broke in. Webb said if they gave him $400 he would go away. Webb raped Mrs. Reynolds outside after tying her up. He shot Mr. Reynolds 4 times, killing him. Joseph was also shot. Webb then took all their jewelry & confederate money. He was sentenced to be hanged. Webb was put up to it by Joseph Ayers; Richard had killed Ayers' father. |

State argued that Hannum killed H. O. Wilson in his home in Blount Co. on May 21, 1890 using a pistol. The State's theory was that Hannum's love interest Nan West, with whom he had a child and lived with for 4 to 5 years, was found with H. O. Wilson. He admitted to witness that he cut Allen's throat so she could not identify him. 4 folders. |
