A. S. Randolph, admr of James Hairston, one of the "Hairston heirs" sued Margaret Ann Hairston, et al. in order to divide James' land holdings amongst the heirs. M. M. Hairston was the purchaser of the land & he paid with notes. However, Hairston had never paid on the notes. He later settled payment, but the County Clerk, & others in the office failed to handle the notes correctly, causing great difficulty for Hairston in lawfully obtaining the land & settling the debt. |

Stating that Gilbert was originally supposed to be hung by the neck for his crimes, but due to his appeal and further evidence it was concluded that Gilbert was "insane and incapable of self-control" and was therefore sentenced to life in prison instead. |

H. C. Fletcher died and James G. Woods was appointed administrator of the estate. Wood as admr. sued Robinson initially alleging that Fletcher and Robinson had a business partnership trading salt spun yarn and domestic cloth in 1868. This was an oral agreement. Amongst Robinson's belongings he found large sum notes of Confederate money related to the partnership. Wood sued to have the partnership dissolved with Robinson paying over money owed the estate in Federal dollars rather than CSA currency. |
