Plaintiff, the Bank of Lewisburg sought recovery of funds, $314.05, of defendant T.A. Montgomery, former bookkeeper of this bank. The bank charges that the defendant was in debt due to 'over check'. Defendant insisted the bank owed him $320.00 in salary Witness to the defense: John Wallace, employee of B.O.L., and the defendants father, R.S. Montgomery former president of the bank.

Thomas Townsend died intestate in the 1850s, & David W. & Daniel C. Townsend were appointed administrators of the estate. The estate was found insolvent, & Townsends holdings of land & enslaved people were sold to pay the debts. Suit filed in order to settle debts, resolve bequests, and to settle the estate.

In the original bill Maggie C. Kimmons alleged that the marriage had not been happy and that J. W. Kimmons had a "violent & savage temper" that she was fearful of her life and that he had recently accused her of adultery in an effort to push her to file for divorce. She charged that he committed adultery & was guilty of cruelty. She sought alimony, some property that she held, and custody of the children. J. W. Kimmons denied the allegations.

Defendant Thomas C. Hardison claims ownership of the timber, not the land. The defendants, T.E. Hardison, et al.(W.M. and JT Alexander) claims a reservation in the deed of their father, Joel Hardison, grants them the timber rights in question.

The Bank of Commerce cashed the check on the faith of a telegram written by R. A. McCord, then acting as cashier of the Peoples Bank.

Plaintiff admr. of R. McClure dec. This case revolves around collection of two notes the defendants in error are trying to collect on: $109.80 from Dec. 1880 and $369.99 from June 1880. A previous judgment was against McClure, now amount due is contested R. McClure was partner with W.D. McClure under name of W.D. McClure & Co. JP ruled that R. McClure was not a partner at time debt incurred, so not responsible. JP further ruled against W.D. McClure, a judgment of $401 plus costs.
