Cross bill. In Oct. 1834, McKissick bought from Smith two Negros, Sam & Lem and a negro girl, Bet for $900. In Mar. 1834, he bought 2 more negro girls, Armena & Mary Ann and a negro boy, Washington for another $900. Dec. 1837, he bought 3 more slaves Alsey, Citta & Susan for $1500. McKissick claimed Smith later set up a pretense that he owned a life estate for the lifetime of his wife for the slaves & filed a bill against McKissick to set up that life estate to have an accout of hire for slaves. |
