DeGraffenreid v. Morton has roots in Samuel L. Morton v. A. B. & John D. McLemore included in this case file. John D. McLemore wrote and delivered a note to J. C. Banks & wife in 1863 for the amount of $5300. McLemore owned a huge plot of land in Maury County which had an attachment filed against it for this case. |

In 1874 Osborne forged an order for goods as if had been made by Eli Offord. It said "Mr. Elam, please let Bas Offord have twelve dollars worth of goods, Eli Offord," not only committing fraud, but creating a debt for Eli Offard. |

Glenn was accused of attempting to sell liquor on the fair grounds in Maury County without a license. He had previously had a place of business there, and his liquor license was supposedly being transferred. However, at the time of the attempted sale, it was not legal. |

Coffey sold Cheatham a tract of land in Maury County in 1869. Cheatham bought the land according to the survey, but later claimed that there was 7 1/2 acres more than the deed claimed. John Cheatham died in 1873. |

In a prior trial Neely was summoned to the court, and agreed to appear, serving as a juror for three days. Following the third day he refused to come back to the jury. He argued that the jury fees were to be collected by the County from the losing party in the case and that the County or State has no power to enforce the collection of these fees. |

Decedent, Isaac G. Voorhies, died intestate in 1865. Plaintiff creditors asked the court to order Ewing, Admr., to sell the real estate, 200 acres worth about $6,000 to $8,000, which decedent received from his father's estate, Peter J. Voorhies, in order to satisfy the decedent's estate debts. Additional defendents: decedent's widow, Nancy B. Voorhies, minor children, Elizabeth and Thomas J. William Voorhies, and their guardian, A. O. P. Nickolson. Nicholson was a formerTennessee State Senator. |
