Complainants were convicted of house breaking and larceny for stealing 50,000 cigarettes (Chesterfields, Camels, Wings, and Lucky Strikes) from the wholesale firm of O. K. Jones & Company. The following day, they offered to sell the smokes to Lewis Phillips who owned a store in Chattanooga. Phillips notified the police and helped them recover the stolen cigarettes. Moore was a burglar-alarm salesman who had tried to make a sale to Jones. Frank Smith also arrested. |

2 Folders. The Vice President of the First National Bank, Grover Cleveland Adams, lacking the authority, made loans totaling $7,200 to his brother in law B.B. Fite, without notifying the Bank President or Board. Loan written to finance the Fite Construction Company. To recover the money, the Bank sued the Indemnity Company, asserting that the loan was invalid. Royal Indemnity denied liability and insisted the loan was in fact valid. Exhibits include copies of loans & bills. See also ET 1545. |

Plaintiff is a receiver appointed to take over the affairs of the First National Bank of Sweetwater, Tennessee. Exercising his duty to collect assets for distribution among the banks creditors, the plaintiff brought this suit to collect on several notes owned by Eli Cleveland. Plaintiff further complains that Eli Cleveland has conveyed property to other parties in order to avoid his debts. |

Jones was cashier of the old Bank of Sweetwater and an officer in its successor, Sweetwater Bank & Trust Company. Thompson deposited $2,940 in 1922, but no interest had been paid between 1927 and 1930. He requested a refund with interest, and Jones had personally guaranteed the bank's payment. Anticipating a personal suit, Jones transferred his own money to the John M. Jones Estate. Case filed in two folders. |

Williamson, Rogers, and Jake Tipton were involved in a 3 car automobile accident which occurred after Rogers attempted to pass another vehicle and blocked the roadway.
