Minton (who is "illiterate & cannot read writing") bought land from Charles for $1,500 ($500 down & 2 $500 notes), & Charles executed title bond for land. Then Charles died & Minton discovered Reuben Faulkner (owner before Charles) had mortgage on land. Mortgage doc purported to be absolute deed but intended as mortgage. Minton informed John (executor) who said he would make sure Minton would have good title, but didn't do so & instead sued Minton on the notes. Minton sought equitable relief in Chancery. |

Morgan had filed his bill against Milligan in 1847 in order to divest the title of a tract of land out of Milligan and vest it in himself. Claiming to be judgment credior to Milligan, Morgan had obtained a decree against Milligan in Chancery court for $336 in 1834. A reference to case Joseph Milligan v. Gideon Morgan in ET 676. Rogers obtained decree in 1857 against Milligan, which Milligan wants set aside. He also wants an injunction to stay issuance of writ of possession from other court. |

Jacob Baker died owning land on little Tennessee River known as Island Farm, leaving widow Ann Baker & 6 children including Louisa, who was previously married (when she was 14) to Daniel Shrader of Virginia & after divorcing him, married Mordecai. Soon after Jacob's death, Howard Henry (who married Louisa's sister) bought the Farm. Bentons sued asking that Henry (now dec) be enjoined from paying (& Stephens' estate from receiving) purchase price for the 1/7 of the farm claimed by the Bentons. |

Add. defendants: J.E. Houston, A.J. Hicks, E.E. Griffith, John A. Stephens, W.L. Eakin, & J.I. Wright. In 1840, the plaintiff purchased from one Enos C. Hooper a tract of 200 acres of land for which he paid $400, to be paid one year from date and Hooper executed a bond for the title. In order to build a home and pay debts, the plaintiff allowed the legal title to be made to his brother in law J.A. Stephens, who later had a judgment rendered against him for debts and the land was listed as his property. |

Jane was wife of S. J. Rowan. Other defendants: Benjamin Hudson; William L. Ballard; A. W. Boyd; John S. Thomas; Jacob R. Crumley; T. G. Boyd. Jane's mother died, leaving her 1/3 interest in land that had belonged to mother (Margaret Carter). The rest going to her brothers Robert Carter & B. F. Carter (also called F. B. Carter in documents). Robert sold his portion & defendants are all the various purchasers of the land. But purchasers were also claiming to own Jane's land as well. |

Morgan), William Lee, Margaret Lee, William Morgan, Sarah Morgan, Brazzleton Morgan, Alice Morgan, Lewis Morgan, and Robert Morgan, all heirs of A. T. Morgan, dec. Boyd, Alexander Lee, and A. T. Morgan were all sureties for G. P. Carmichael. After a judgment against them, Lee's land was old in a decree and Boyd bought it. He filed suit to recover the land and clear the title of any clouds from claims of the defendants. |
