In 1892 William Newbern, an employee of the defendant, was struck by a train in the town of Clarksville. He died from the resulting injuries, leaving a widow and six children. Newbern earned $25 per month cleaning the defendant's "Princeton," train. |

Plaintiff is a tobacco buying firm located in Louisville, KY. Defendants are members of a tobacco board of trade responsible for disputes among purchasers and sellers and reclamation. The plaintiff purchased a hogshead of tobacco at auction and based off off of a provided sample. When the tobacco arrived the plaintiff discovered an inferior product that did not match said sample. Johnson said that the sow was there but had caused quite a bit of damage to his property. He asked Clardy to pay for the damage if he wanted his sow back. The two disagreed on the matter and eventually filed this suit to settle the matter. |

The line was purchased by the plaintiff in 1859 from the Memphis, Clarksville, and Louisville Railroad Co. and included right of way through said property. Plaintiff also claimed right to 100 feet extending from either side of the road. Plaintiff complained that the defendant blocked access to the 100 ft. right of way and brought suit. The property in controversy was located in the 19th Civil District of Montgomery County. |

Enoch became insolvent and this suit was filed to prevent him from selling these products to settle his debts, depriving Goodlett of the profits. |
