In 1876 Clardy and George Beasley drove to Johnson's house in a wagon to find out if a stray sow had wandered to the property. Johnson said that the sow was there but had caused quite a bit of damage to his property. He asked Clardy to pay for the damage if he wanted his sow back. The two disagreed on the matter and eventually filed this suit to settle the matter. |
