Parham issued a note to Wilcox in 1861. Wilcox left the neighborhood and gave the note to his son John L. Wilcox, cashier of the bank of Clarksville. Parham claimed he paid the note to C. B. Wilcox. The note itself was lost or mislaid.

Additional Defendants: N.L. Turner, S.H. Northington, A.S. Wood. N.D. Northington & Turner executed a $400 note to S.H. Northington & Wood. Note was then endorsed to Plaintiff. Plaintiff received a small payment on the note & sued for the balance. Def.. N.D. Northington & Turner were part of a firm (Northington & Turner), & Def.. S.H. Northington & Wood were part of a separate firm (Northington & Wood). Original purpose for the note was related to sale of furniture & fixtures of The Southern Hotel.
