Saunders got judgment in Circuit Court against Thos Vickory Jr & Bates (endorser), satisfied by sale of County land on Brush Creek that Vickory & others inherited from Tom Sr. Saunders bid $25 at sale, then transferred bid to Dr. Bates, who paid debt. Heirs sold land to Leeper, who said he'd pay Dr. Bates but didn't. Heirs: Sarah Vickory (widow); other Vickorys - Madison, Rebecca, Lucretia, Marg; Hilburns - Wiley, Rebecca, Rachel; Hetty Qualls. Lots of testimony re: character of Thomas Jr & wife Anna. |

Add. Defendants: A.D. Craig. A parcel of land was willed to Roberts, but an 11-acre tract was left off and became a part of Bird's land. When Roberts bought land from Bird, the said tract was supposedly included in the deed, but later Bird contested the sale. Craig, being county sheriff, dispossessed Roberts of the land that was deeded and willed to him, including houses built on the property. |
