In 1862 the Johnsons purchased a horse from Gentry in order to deliver it for sale to the Confederate Army in Chattanooga. They promised to return with $135 profit in CSA currency. When note came due Gentry claimed the note specified US bank currency. Boyd charges Gentry with further fraud, and sues to recover debts owed to him. |
