Leming furnished Stevens with lumber to build a house on a lot, now encumbered. Stevens then owed $250. Wm. Doone lathed and plastered the house, Stevens owed him $200. Gilbert Walton performed carpentry, billing $41. The pl's sued to recover amounts due them for work performed for Stevens. See boxes ET 747 for additional documents.

View Entry 1936 Joseph Bailey v. Wrought Iron Range Co. Roane Failure to Pay

Bailey owed the Wrought Iron Range Company $383.78. Bailey originally brought suit against the company for an attachment, for the debt, after the company alleged that Bailey was not a resident of Tennessee. Bailey had been a salesperson for the company & argued that he had not received his full commission.

View Entry 1849 State v. Henderson Bowling Roane Assault with Intent to Kill

Bowling was accused of assaulting John Enox with a club w/intent to kill hiim. Jury found Bowling not guilty of assault w/intent to kill, but guilty of assault & battery, but court arrested the judgment & discharged Bowling because the indictment was not for simple assault & battery & jury didn't convict Bowling on charge that WAS in the indictment.

View Entry 1888 W. L. Welcker, assignee v. Pamelia Staples, Widow of Thomas Staples, Jr, et al. Roane Failure to Pay

Welcker ran a mercantile firm called Joseph Welcker & Sons. Staples's husband turned over accounts, land, notes, etc. to the Welckers for money to pay her creditors. Staples then sold the property to other persons, putting the land in others' names in order to defraud his creditors. Suit seeks to recover the money from Staples.
