Plaintiffs were exe of Thomas Brown, dec. Defendants were the admr of the estate of George L. Gillespie, dec. and Jno. C. Gillespie, dec. Prior to his death, George L. Gillespie did business under the firm name Style of George L. Gillespie & Co. He promised to pay Thomas Brown, dec. a sum of $1,300.00 for a debt. Plaintiffs sued the estate of George L. Gillespie to recover this sum. Additional Plaintiff: William L. Brown. Additional Defendant: Margret J. Gillespie

Plaintiffs were physicians & claimed defendant owed them $90 for medical treatments for him & his family.

Additional Defendant: Harry Summers. L. A. Mayscy admr. & father of Jonnie Mayscy, age 19, sued for $100,000 damages in the death of his son. Jonnie Mayscy seriously injured when the Chevrolet coupe he was driving was hit by a truck driven by Athol Moore. Mayscy died of blood poisoning ca. 27 Oct. 1934. His father charged the truck that hit him was being driven at excessive speeds & without proper lights. Athol employed by Summers to haul his furniture: Summers an employee of Hickman. 3 folders.

Def. was partnership engaged as subcontractor (under B. C. George & Co.) to construct State Hwy No. 1 near Rockwood, TN (aka Memphis to Bristol Hwy). While working for Def., Earl Burden killed by 1-ton rock that rolled down hill. His dad (his admr) sued Def. & recovered $3,000. Legal issue: Def.'s compliance w/insurance requirements of TN worker's comp law. Exhibits: 2 photos showing position of rock that rolled down hill & killed Earl, 3 newspaper clippings, ltrs of admin. 2 folders.

Winston owned 65 acres on Big Poplar Creek & Big Indian Creek, to which both Winston & defs claimed title. Add. defs: Charles M. McGhee, Barclay McGhee, J.W.J. Niles & wife Margaret W. Niles (added selves as defs claiming title to land in dispute). Jury ruled in favor of defendants.

Margaret Fuller is the infant daughter of Mary D. Fuller and the Defendant Robert C. Fuller. Mary and Robert separated in 1931 and later divorced. Mary was granted exclusive custody of Margaret. Mary now accuses Robert of refusing to pay child support.

Cause of Action: Damages from car accident.

Involves the Brittain Goodwin estate. Several slaves mentioned by name: Lucy, Liddy, Jack (a "good stout boy"), Elijah, Sophy, Harry, Eleck, Winny, Dinah, Lidda, Beverly [?], George, and Lige. Some slave values stated. In one passage, it is noted that Bell believed he had the right to do w/his wife's property as he pleased. Page is missing.

Dispute over $2,700 for the purpose of paying and satisfying the liability credited when said receipt was executed and the same was never applied in the way in which it was supposed to be.

Assault and Battery and Attempted Rape. Additional Plaintiffs: Ralph Hall and Robert Hall. Victim: Eva Mae Langley.

Victim: Anna Grace Gilliland. Killed by electrocution.

Ellis was convicted of killing Mollie Scott alias Mollie Reed. Ellis found that a few members of the jury had decided he was guilty before the trial, and petitioned for a new trial. Mollie Scott was found dead with a knife in her hand in a pine thicket.

Incomplete case; brief only. Adams asked Wright to alleviate some of the weight on his wagon by carrying a 300 lb barrel of coal oil on his wagon. Wright did so, then the two disagreed about what the job was worth. Adams started to pull a knife on Wright, and Wright cut Adams, who died a few moments later.

The State sought $1000 in damages for breach of bond. Additional defendants: James Sevier, John F. Ladd, C. B. French, F. Young, R. F. Weleker, James H. Weleker (executors of B. F. Weleker). Evan E. Young was Clerk of the Circuit Court. The State sued for breach of bond claiming young did not account for and pay out all county and state revenue collected by him.
