Defendant is a county judge. I. Marney was married to one Cleve Marney, who was found guilty of cruel and inhuman treatment of the plaintiff and eventually deserted her. She filed for divorce and alimony in a case heard in 1930. C. Marney failed to provide the ordered child support, but the defendant, who presided over the case, failed in his duty to bind C. Marney to an action of the Grand Jury and held the case over with no discretion for the law.

Ellis was convicted of killing Mollie Scott alias Mollie Reed. Ellis found that a few members of the jury had decided he was guilty before the trial, and petitioned for a new trial. Mollie Scott was found dead with a knife in her hand in a pine thicket.

Incomplete case; brief only. Adams asked Wright to alleviate some of the weight on his wagon by carrying a 300 lb barrel of coal oil on his wagon. Wright did so, then the two disagreed about what the job was worth. Adams started to pull a knife on Wright, and Wright cut Adams, who died a few moments later.

The State sought $1000 in damages for breach of bond. Additional defendants: James Sevier, John F. Ladd, C. B. French, F. Young, R. F. Weleker, James H. Weleker (executors of B. F. Weleker). Evan E. Young was Clerk of the Circuit Court. The State sued for breach of bond claiming young did not account for and pay out all county and state revenue collected by him.

The State charged Potter with the shooting death of William Walls.

In this cause, Morgan asks to be released from prison. Morgan claims that he stabbed William Spence in self-defense.

The defendant was found guilty and was sentenced to twenty years in the state penitentiary, rendered infamous and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution. Sheriff ordered to bring two guards to escort defendant to jail. Judgment only. Case is incomplete.

Britt was charged with obtaining money on false & fraudulent pretenses. Allegedly, Britt claimed to have taken a bank note in payment from Robert S. Phipps as part of a horse swap, which note Britt then falsely claimed to be counterfeit. Britt then asked to examine other bank notes to determine if they were counterfeit but in fact used that as a subterfuge to steal the notes. Phipps encountered Britt when Phipps was traveling through TN on his way from Virginia to his home in Alabama.

When voting in 1856 election for U.S. President & Vice President, Steinwehr tried to vote 3 times instead of 1 by folding 3 tickets as 1 ticket & placing in hands of David G. Taylor, sheriff & election officer in Kingston, who noticed problem when ticket wouldn't go into ballot box. Three juries couldn't agree so 3 mistrials entered; 4th jury found Steinwehr guilty & fined him $5. Steinwehr described as man of good character, industrious, more than ordinary intelligence, but foreigner so prone to mistakes

Parks was convicted of vending and selling malt (whiskey) and vinous (wine) liquors. Sid Bledsoe testified that he, Sam Howard, and James Tidwell paid Parks $1.25 for a gallon of blackberry wine, which they drank. Parks did not have a legal license to sell alcohol.

For destroying a harness, a windlass rope, & cylinder band for a threshing machine belonging to David F. Jameson & Jonathan Fender.

Defendant is a surety for John Duncan who is accused of robbing William F. Johnston of $35 in U.S. money and $135 in Confederate money. Johnston failed to appear in court and the judge ordered recovery of Julian's bond money.
