Holmes is the administrator of the estate of J.F. Jenkins, decd., father of A.M. Jenkins. Additional defendants: Beulah Jenkins - widow of J.F., Clement Jenkins, Alice Jenkins, James Jenkins, Nimmie Jenkins, Kate Jenkins, Ruby Jenkins, Beulah Jenkins - children of decd., H.H. Kerr, and J.F. Byrn. A.M. Jenkins' mother was a previous wife of J.F., who became her guardian, controlled her willed land. She sued for the rents owed and home/property purchased with the $$ from her land's rents. In 4 folders.

View Entry 1892 B. B. Kerr v. Isabella Scoff et al. Rutherford Land

Add def: the husband of Isabella Scoff (name not given), and Wendel, Daisy, Earnest, and Willie Drumright, all children of Isabella Scoff and her now deceased husband W. B. Drumright. Kerr conveyed to W. B. Drumright a tract of land located in the 13th Civil District of Rutherford County in exchange for cash and two notes. After the death of her husband, Isabella re-conveyed said lot to Kerr and the notes were surrendered. Kerr now complains that the re-conveyance was a ity.

View Entry 1812 David Barton v. William Lytel Rutherford Land and Title Dispute

In 1810 Barton purchased some land in Rutherford County for $500, the title not to be created until the debt was paid in full. However, another man had a right to some of the land and Barton was anxious to have the deed filed. Barton sued so that the entire contract might be cancelled.

Guion's grandfather Henry Winbourn received a land grant of 400 acres for Revolutionary War service. The same tract near Murfreesboro was claimed by Hardee Murfree. Winbourn died in Hertford County NC in 1793. Murfree's daughter Lavinia married Frank N.W. Burton inherited his claim to the land. Judge Samuel Anderson later purchased and lived on the land.

John & Arthur Cotton were the heirs of Thomas Cotton, deceased. His father attained two plots of 600 acres of land in his lifetime, North Carolina land grant # 246. However, there was an error in the grant, and the details did not align with the information attained by the original survey conducted by John Buchannan.

Nancy Adams is also known as Nancy Davis. Case is related to, "Nancy Adams v. Jesse Adams, admr. of Edward Adams, dec., et al." located in MT 634. Plaintiff was executed a deed of trust by Edward Adams dec. to a tract of land located in the 21st Civil District of Rutherford County to secure the payment of a sum of $215. Edward died having never paid the debt and the land remained in the possession of the defendant. Plaintiff claims he now owns said land and the defendant now refuses to leave.

Boyd, for himself & as agent for Elijah Flack, James Brckin,Hennekin Harris agreed to sell Richard Myrick 750 acres of their land for $1k. Myrick made partial payment then died. Myrick "mortgaged" an enslaved woman allowing Boyd to use her until the debt was recovered. She had a child. The suit was filed to settle the debt, & therefore the estate.

Barry sold William Mitchell 180 acres of land on the east fork of the Stones River. However, Mitchell was eventually found to be insolvent. Mitchell had attempted to sell the land to Searcy, who apparently had the funds to purchase it. The suit was filed to recover the debt.
