Plaintiff originally sued to stop levy on real estate in his possession. Coyne had obtained decree against Byrne for unpaid amount of $214.93 plus interest. Byrne alleged Coyne owed him $360 plus interest, $160 of this for legal services supplied by Byrne & the balance the value of unreturned legal books in Coyne's possession which were property of plaintiff. Plaintiff also alleged he had only equitable interest in property & that it was not subject to levy & sale. |

Co. of New York for which they paid $200 on machinery fixed and movable in the 3 story cotton mill in Memphis near the Wolf River and Court Square. In November 1866 a fire damaged or destroyed enough of the property to make the Columbia Fire Ins. Co. liable. The plaintiffs sue to force payment. |
