John James obtained a military land grant from North Carolina in 1785. The grant was later assigned to James & John Sloan, now deceased. John pledged to sell the land to Armstreet Stubbelfield. Stubbelfield accused the heirs of the Sloans from executing the sale. Likewise, Pillow was not able to fully execute his purchase of land from the estate either. The case was filed to officially determine the land ownership. |

William Thomas obtained a attachment against George Walker, prosecuting for the sum of $500. When Walker failed to pay in full, the sheriff of Wmson County seized his land, which was unfair as the land was worth far more than the debt. Walker sold the land to the Perkinses, but Overton also had an offer to pay the judgement. |

John Porter sold William and Felix an unnamed enslaved man. The sale was paid with a note. Later Felix worked in his still house & dropped his purse containing his valuable papers into the fire. All of the papers including the note for this sale were consumed. Felix begged that the debt be forgiven. |

Lane obtained a judgement against Wilson for $370. Wilson was put in debtor's jail. A survey was filed for a tract of land on Wilson's behalf. Wilson was found to have purchased land from W. Gibbs. Wilson was named insolvent, owing multiple parties money. Lane sued to recover the debt through the sale of Wilson's land or otherwise. |

In 1792 Douglas held a bond on John Dawson for an enslaved worker. In return Ephraim offered to give Douglas 640 acres of land to Dawson, so that he might hold a bond on Dawson. They later found that the land might be lost in the deal. The suit was filed to settle the parameters of the agreement. |

Each partner had an equal interest, but 3 months later they dissolved the partnership. Mitchell was accused of borrowing more money from the profits than he was owed and not paying it back. |
