An original deed issued to Curtis Ivey in 1783, was lost. Thomas R. Ivey, a Murfreesboro tailor, discovered he was heir to this land around 1819. He drank alcohol habitually, owed great medical bills due to this habit, & died in 1821 before the land ownership was settled. In this document, Dr. Holmes was accused of fraudulently charging Ivey, perhaps in an effort to run up a debt that might be settled by a transfer of Ivey's land ownership. Although contained with East TN files, case is Middle, TN.
