Wallace brought suit against Henry Hannum in 1835. Claimed to own lots in Maryville occupied by Hannum. Hannum claimed to be renting property from James White of Virginia. Court ruled in favor of Wallace. Supreme Court reversed decision & remanded case back to circuit court for retrial in 1839. Hannum died in 1845 & case was continued by his widow, Ann Eliza Hannum. This dispute involves the estate of Hon. Hugh Lawson White, prominent Tennessean & 1836 U.S. presidential candidate who died in 1840, leaving his estate to his wife Ann (Nancy) for life, then his 2 children Isabella (White) French & Samuel White, w/some provision also for his 5 grandchildren. This dispute arose when Isabella tried to isolate her inheritance from debts of her husband William B. French, but Deadrick (a creditor) argued that shouldn't be allowed because Isabella benefitted from the debts. |

When plaintiff was unable to make the payments the land was sold to Vincent Easley for $950. On 9 May 1846 plaintiff brought a Bill of Review to court, charging numerous errors in the handling of his case. Bill of Review not filed within the time allowed by law. |

John Dickson asked Chancery for injunction to keep Defs. from prosecuting "action of covenant" they filed against him in Circuit. Dispute is over notes Dickson owed Hoy & unsettled account Dickson had against Hoy for store goods sold & delivered to Hoy. Hoy claimed he had let Dickson go for years without paying his debts to Hoy, always succumbing to Dickson's pleas "in the most imploring manner and with tears in his eyes." Hoy calls Dickson his "old friend and countryman." Hoy died while suit ongoing. |

Rice purchased goods from the plaintiffs and executed a note for $495.42 with interest and for another order of $1,144.23. Both partners died before the collection could be made. Filed bill to collect debt plus interest for the goods. |
