Case originally State v. Henson in which Henson was charged with bastardy. Martha Hickey, a single woman, declared Henson the father of her illegitimate child. Henson petitioned to change the name of his child from Sheadrick Hickey to Henson and to adopt the child as a legal heir. Rachel Hickey, Sheadrick's grandmother, suing Henson over custody. Court ruled in Henson's favor. Hickey appealed. |
