Thornburgh executed $100 note in favor of Harris, who gave Confederate money (rebel money) for the note, which Thornburgh used to pay another debt & to pay a high price for medicine. Dispute over whether Confederate money qualified as consideration. Thornburgh argued no consideration for note, since Confederate money not recognized by law as money at all & had no legal value. |

The suit was instituted for the taking and converting use by Confederate soldiers a certain leather. The plaintiff claims that the defendant knew where the leather was kept because he had attempted to buy leather from him in the past. He says it was under his direction that the leather was taken and that the leather was delivered to the defendant and sold for the financial benefit of the defendant. |
