During the guardianship, Andrew says he lived with Russell (from age 8 to age 17) & worked for Russell during crop season & other times. |

Jones is the widow of William E. Jones. Her, along with her children and grandchildren are bring a suit against Townsend over a tract of land that belonged to William Jones. The defendant, Townsend, allegedly set up a claim to the land. Timber was being cut off the land and the plaintiffs were not happy about it. The tract was about 1150 acres. Hartman sued Carson for trespass to his damage $25,000. During the late war, Hartman was loyal to the Union and Carson was a Confederate. Carson refused to give him a certificate of exemption from the rebel army and caused Hartman to be arrested and imprisoned for 5-6 months. Hartman was also compelled to stay from his home for 2 years after his escape from the rebel army and prison. Court ruled in favor of plaintiff for $550. |

After the formation of James County, a vote was held to establish the location of the county seat. Plaintiffs complain that defendants, wishing to establish the James County seat in Ooltewah instead of Harrison, withheld 64 lawful votes. |
