Bray sued Maxey as administrator for payment of a promissory note executed by the deceased, Adam C. Hamilton. Maxey lost the case and was ordered to pay Bray $135.33 from the estate plus costs of the trial.

Dale claimed that he recovered a judgment in an action of debt against O. P. Hamilton who had since died intestate and Maxey had been appointed administrator of his estate. Orator charged that said judgment was obtained upon a note executed by O. P. Hamilton to Dale for $130 due on March 1, 1860 with already 2 credits.

Add. Def: Deborah C. Branner, wife of J. R. Branner dec., and John Talbot and G. M. Branner admr. of J. R. Branner dec. The plaintiff worked as a mechanic for J. R. Branner, building a dwelling house and large stable located at Mosely Creek in Jefferson County. Branner was to pay Long $2 per day, board him, have his washing done, and pay his train fare every three months. Branner died in 1869 and his widow asked the plaintiff to continue work. Plaintiff is now seeking back payment.

Joshua Brown & Nathaniel Norton were partners in firm Brown & Norton.

T. Johnson was indebted to P. Earnest in the sum of $1,350 + interest at the time of his death. Before suit could be brought to court P. Earnest also died.

Def's drew a promissory note for $350 in Confederate currency in 1861. The value of the note following the war, and the state of the debt following the war were contested by the defendants. Suit sought to properly evaluate the original debt and recover payment. Includes Civil War battle narrative on Page 15.

Wiseman sued the defendant for $3300 due by promissory note. See additional materials in box MT 1104.

King and Miller were indebted to the firm of Cameron & Mathes for $15.70. Suit brought to court by F. A. Cameron. No details on the circumstances of the debt. King appealed under the pauper's oath. Court held chattels as lien for King and Miller's appearance.

Additional Defts.: Thomas Richardson; Thomas Webster. Plntff. Defts. took out a $2000 promissory note which they have failed to pay. Plntff. sues to collect on the note, plus interest and $500 for damages.

Vineyard is the admr. for the estate of Noah H. Vineyard. Key is the exe. for the estate of James M. Dobbs. N. Vineyard loaned Dobbs $300. Before repayment was made Dobbs died, before the suit made it court Vineyard died.

Plaintiff sued defendant over a note that was due to the bank originally to Wright, but had been endorsed over to the bank.

Thomas James owned 300 acres of land in Davidson County. John D. James was awarded a judgement against Thomas of $7041.80 in collection of multiple notes owed. Meanwhile, a separate suit was filed against Thomas for the "fraudulent sale of drugs" in Nashville, resulting in a judgment against Thomas for $1200. Land & enslaved people named Mary, Amanda, & Sam were exchanged in payment. Suit filed to sort out complicated debts that effected multiple parties.
