Jane C. Brackett divorced Adkins Brackett and was awarded one-half of his assets. Additionally he was made responsible for court costs. When he couldn't afford it, the sheriff levied the costs upon his land. Brackett argued that would make him destitute, therefore unable to pay alimony. When the sheriff auctioned the land at a courthouse sale, the high bidders were Owens, J. M. Clementson, W. L. Lane, W. S. Jaston, and E. L. Miller. Brackett (who later married Eliza Haney) asked the court to void sale. |

Debts and land continued to transfer to new owners, who made attempts to recover their debts from Emsley, and to be granted a clear title on the Walker land. Within the chain of title are Snyder and Branner. |

Smith attempted to board a train in Philadelphia, Loudon County, Tenn., bound for Athens, McMinn County, Tenn. The train started moving as she was in the process of boarding. She was thrown onto the tracks & the train rolled over her right leg. The injury required her leg to be amputated. She was suing for $15,000. |

Campbell countersued, charging Davis with fraud & alleging that Davis had no title to a portion of the land within the boundaries described by the deed. Bray had conveyed his undivided share of the land to Campbell in consideration of Campbell's paying the Davises. |

Morris violated the policy's terms by misrepresenting his age & state of health. He claimed an age of 60 but was actually 69, an age the deft. does not insure, & had several ailments. |

In 1877 Bradley allegedy broke a store window, belonging to the firm of Mann & Oliver. Bradley was found and arrested, but he resisted arrest. Includes description of store stock, as well as Bradey himself. |
